Each year, Canada Basketball hosts a Nationwide competition for provincial and territorial U15 and U17 teams. Nova Scotia has been proud to field teams for the last 25 years.
In addition, the Canada Games - a national multi-sport event - is held every two years rotating between summer and winter sports. The 2025 Canada Summer Games will take place August 8-24 in St, John’s NL, and BNS will be sending both a U17 girls and boys team.
In a non Canada Games year, BNS would send both U17 and U15 teams to the National competition. This year, there will be a boys and girls U15 tournament and the U17 boys and girls will compete at the Canada Games in place of a Canada Basketball National competition.
Our 2025 Canada Games and U15 coaching staff can be found here.
Note: Based on identification by Canada Games coaches, select athletes may receive direct invites to participate in the 2025 Canada Games final tryout in May. Players can be selected through the open identification camps in December and April for Canada Games. Players can also be selected through coach identification during their current season.
Canada Games and U15 team athletes will be expected to commit to all training and competition weekends.

The BNS PTP is guided by 5 principles:
Development Training Groups
We are in the process of implementing high performance programming for U13-U17 athletes. The details are still being solidified and we'll be excited to share the plan for this age group in the coming weeks. We were pleased with the efforts from our coaches and athletes in the 2024 Development Training Group (U16), and are looking forward to build on this for Summer 2025.
