Tournament Overview

Basketball Nova Scotia is excited to announce the return of our annual summer tournament — Scotia Showcase! This three-day event brings together top club, community, and provincial teams from across the region for a high-energy, competitive, and community-driven basketball experience.

Last year's event was a major success, and we’re looking forward to making this year even better.


Divisions, Locations & Registration

U14 Division (Boys & Girls) - Division is full

U15 Division (Boys & Girls) - Invite only

U17 Division (Boys & Girls) - Invite only

Wheelchair Division (Open to all) - Registration still open
Games at Canada Games Centre (CGC).

Wheelchair registration remains open until July 3, 2025.

U14 Specific Rules

Game Format & Guidelines

  • Game Length: 4 x 8-minute quarters, stop time

  • Breaks: 1-minute between quarters, 5-minute halftime

  • Warm-Up: Begins after previous game ends, minimum 5 minutes

  • Overtime: 5 minutes if needed

Shot Clock

  • No visible shot clocks used

  • Officials may count down 10 seconds for stalling or during final 2 minutes of close games

Ball Sizes

  • Boys: Size 7

  • Girls: Size 6

Rules & Expectations

  • No zone defenses in Development Divisions

  • Full court player-to-player defense allowed, but no backcourt trapping

  • Mercy rule applied at 25-point lead

  • Equal playing time is not required

  • Teams must bring their own warm-up balls

  • Please respect all officials and scorekeepers


Competitive Divisions (U15 & U17) Rules

Game Format & Guidelines

  • FIBA rules

  • Game Length: 4 x 10-minute quarters

  • Breaks: 1-minute between quarters, 10-minute halftime

  • Warm-Up: Begins after previous game ends, minimum 10 minutes

  • Overtime: 5 minutes if needed

Shot Clock

  • Used at facilities where installed

  • Referees will count down if clocks aren’t available

Ball Sizes

  • Molten basketballs

  • Boys: Size 7

  • Girls: Size 6

Rules & Expectations

  • Teams must bring their own warm-up balls

  • Please respect all officials and scorekeepers
